Eight suspects have been detained by police in Kano for a variety of electoral offences, including unlawful possession of Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs), arson, causing serious injury, stirring up trouble, and theft, among others.<\/p>\n

According to a statement from SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, spokesman for the Kano Police Command, the suspects have been charged with the various offences for which they were detained.<\/p>\n

He listed the suspects who were detained along with the courts where they were arraigned:<\/p>\n

i. Aminu Ali, \u2018m\u2019 of Yautar Arewa, Gabasawa LGA Kano State for unlawful possession of voters cards and charged to Magistrate Court 70 Nomansland Kano<\/p>\n

ii. Zailani Adamu, \u2018m\u2019 of Dadin Kowa Village, Doguwa LGA Kano for Inciting Disturbance and charged to Magistrate Court 24 Gyadi-Gyadi Kano<\/p>\n

iii. Shafi\u2019u Abdulrahman (Kabesi), \u2018m\u2019 of Gawuna Quarters, Nassarawa LGA Kano for Criminal Conspiracy, Causing Grievous Hurt, Mischief and Theft, and charged to Court 52 Nomansland Kano<\/p>\n

iv. Abdullahi Usaini, \u2018m\u2019, of Falali Village, Takai LGA Kano for Criminal Conspiracy, Causing Hurt and Mischief by Fire and charged to Magistrate Court 70 Nomansland Kano<\/p>\n

v. Sa\u2019idu Umar, \u2018m\u2019, of Falali Village, Takai LGA Kano for Criminal Conspiracy, Causing Hurt and Mischief by Fire and charged to Magistrate Court 70 Nomansland Kano<\/p>\n

vi. Rabi\u2019u Muhd, \u2018m\u2019; of Falali Village, Takai LGA Kano for Criminal Conspiracy, Causing Hurt and Mischief by Fire and charged to Magistrate Court 70 Nomansland Kano<\/p>\n

vii. Isyaku Yusuf, \u2018m\u2019, of Hausawa Quarters Kano for Defamation of Character and charged to Upper Shari\u2019a Court Brigade Quarters Kano<\/p>\n

viii. Shafi\u2019u Abdulrahman, \u2018m\u2019 of Gawuna Quarters Kano for Criminal Intimidation and Inciting Disturbance, and charged to Magistrate Court 70 Nomansland Kano.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Commissioner of Police appreciates the good people of Kano State<\/a> for their continuous support, encouragement and cooperation.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe urged residents to continue to pray for the State, and the Nation and report incidents to the nearest Police Station and not take laws into their hands.<\/p>\n

\u201cRaids of criminal hideouts and black spots will continue throughout the State as the Command will sustain the tempo in ensuring a peaceful atmosphere in Kano State.
