Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, the governor of Rivers State, has encouraged the populace to keep him accountable for the development projects that his administration has promised to complete throughout its term.<\/p>\n

Wike<\/a> made this statement yesterday at the flag-off of Elekahia internal roads in the Port Harcourt City local government area. Chief Dan Orbih, the national vice chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, performed the ceremony (PDP).<\/p>\n

The governor made fun of those spreading false information about his administration, who claimed that Rebisi towns like Elekahia had been denied development projects.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cYou know in politics, people are good in propaganda. I\u2019m sure, so many of you, people have told you I was not going to do anything for the Elekahia community. I\u2019m sure.\u201d He said what such people did not know is that his administration always makes sure there was funds available before projects are awarded.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf I award a job and there is no money, you will say I\u2019ve abandoned the projects. It\u2019s worse. It is better not to award the project, than award it and abandon it. We have awarded it and said that this project must be completed in 6 months\u2019 time and we have mobilised the contractor.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wike said the eventual flag off exercise of construction work on the roads is evidence that Elekahia community is not neglected.<\/p>\n

The governor<\/a> noted that no good politician like him can neglect Elekahia community that has remained as a stronghold of his administration since 2015.<\/p>\n

He remarked that the essence of politics is to support a party or administration that can deliver dividends of democracy to the people.<\/p>\n

Wike, however, stated that the representatives of the people and other levels of leaders including traditional rulers who have access to the government must do their best to attract such development.<\/p>\n

The governor commended Eze Anthony Worlu Akarolo, the Amangada XI of Rebisi Kingdom, for drawing the attention of the state government to Elekahia community, saying that the approach adopted by the king was true evidence of leadership.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
