{"id":234260,"date":"2022-12-10T18:47:39","date_gmt":"2022-12-10T17:47:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=234260"},"modified":"2022-12-10T18:47:39","modified_gmt":"2022-12-10T17:47:39","slug":"ogun-man-arrested-for-raping-lady-with-down-syndrome","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/12\/10\/ogun-man-arrested-for-raping-lady-with-down-syndrome\/","title":{"rendered":"Ogun man arrested for raping lady with down syndrome"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 29-year-old man identified as Kunle Abati for allegedly forcefully raping a 27-year-old lady with down syndrome (name withheld).<\/p>\n<p>Abati was arrested on the 7th of December 2022, following the report lodged at Ilese ijebu divisional headquarters by the mother of the victim, who reported that she sent her daughter on an errand at about 7:30 am, but when she returned, she discovered blood stain on her cloth.<\/p>\n<p>The victim&#8217;s mother further stated that when she asked her daughter about the blood on her cloth, she took her to the house of the suspect and explained that the suspect had carnal knowledge of her.<\/p>\n<p>Upon the report, the DPO Ilese Ijebu, CSP Paul Omiwole, detailed his detectives to go after the suspect and he was subsequently arrested.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-234262 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/12\/kunlenet07\/2022\/12\/10\/Kunle-Abati-2.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"1424\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/12\/kunlenet07\/2022\/12\/10\/Kunle-Abati-2.jpeg 800w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/12\/kunlenet07\/2022\/12\/10\/Kunle-Abati-2-169x300.jpeg 169w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/12\/kunlenet07\/2022\/12\/10\/Kunle-Abati-2-575x1024.jpeg 575w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/12\/kunlenet07\/2022\/12\/10\/Kunle-Abati-2-768x1367.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On interrogation, the suspect confessed to committing the crime, adding that he equally capitalized on the health challenge of the lady to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/12\/08\/man-sentenced-to-death-3-others-jailed-for-kidnap-gang-rape-of-20-year-old-woman-in-edo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rape<\/a> her, only for him to discover that she was a virgin.<\/p>\n<p>The victim, who was bleeding profusely was quickly taken to General Hospital Ijebu ode for medical attention.<\/p>\n<p>The state police spokesperson, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the arrest said the state Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to Anti Human Trafficking and Child Labour unit of the state Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and diligent prosecution.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 29-year-old man identified as Kunle Abati for allegedly forcefully raping a 27-year-old lady with down syndrome (name withheld).
