{"id":234380,"date":"2022-12-11T14:02:36","date_gmt":"2022-12-11T13:02:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=234380"},"modified":"2022-12-11T14:02:36","modified_gmt":"2022-12-11T13:02:36","slug":"customs-seizes-33390-liters-of-petrol-on-badagry-creeks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/12\/11\/customs-seizes-33390-liters-of-petrol-on-badagry-creeks\/","title":{"rendered":"Customs seizes 33,390 liters of petrol on Badagry creeks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On December 8, the Nigeria Customs Service discovered 33,390 litres of gasoline on the waterways in Badagry, Lagos State.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement released on Sunday in Badagry, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/02\/22\/court-sets-aside-order-seizing-jimoh-ibrahims-assets-over-alleged-69-4bn-debt\/\">organization&#8217;s spokesperson<\/a>, Mr. Hussain Abdulahi, disclosed this information.<\/p>\n<p>The seizure had a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N8,808,280, according to Mr. Bello Jibo, Comptroller, Customs Area Command at Seme Border Area, who was quoted by him.<\/p>\n<p>Jibo said with Wednesday\u2019s seizure, the command had seized 930,140 litres of petrol; about 28 tanker loads of 33,000 litres each from January to date.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that the seizures were contained in 31,000 jerry cans of 30 litres of petrol each.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe combined DPV of the petrol stands at N167,722,751.51,\u2019\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the Command\u2019s surveillance and patrols in creeks and beaches in Badagry and its environs on Wednesday led to the seizure of 1,113 jerry cans of petrol of 30 litres each, equivalent to 33,390 litres.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe seizure with a DPV of N8,808,280 was made in the late hours of Wednesday, Dec.8, 2022,\u2019\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n<p>Jibo described the seizure as unprecedented in the history of the Seme Command of the Nigeria Customs Service and reiterated the commitment of the officers to continue to make smuggling unattractive.<\/p>\n<p>He stressed that the command would not succumb to blackmail by economic saboteurs who believed that they could succeed in carrying out their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/04\/11\/remove-all-illegal-police-roadblocks-lagos-cp-directs-area-commanders\/\">nefarious activities<\/a> by spreading falsehood about the command.<\/p>\n<p>Jibo assured Nigerians engaged in legitimate businesses in the area of the command\u2019s support.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On December 8, the Nigeria Customs Service discovered 33,390 litres of gasoline on the waterways in Badagry, Lagos State.
