Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide, has slammed the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) for launching a verbal attack on THISDAY newspaper and Arise Television.<\/p>\n
THISDAY media group has accused the APC campaign of attempting to remove Shaka Momodu, THISDAY editor, and Rufai Oseni, The Morning Show co-host, from their current positions, according to WITHIN NIGERIA.<\/p>\n
The media group said in a statement on Monday that the APC campaign accused it of blackmail and attempting to bully and silence independent media as the general election approaches.<\/p>\n
In a statement issued late Monday night, the APC Campaign’s Directorate of Media and Publicity chastised the media group for accusing its leadership of attempting to silence free and fair journalism.<\/p>\n
In a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga and Dele Alake, the APC campaign called the accusation of attempting to bully the media “baseless and stupid.”<\/p>\n
In a tweet on Monday, Omokri accused the ruling party of attempting to silence the media group and bully its employees.<\/p>\n
According to the former presidential aide,<\/a> the APC campaign’s actions demonstrate that the APC’s flagbearer, Bola Tinubu, would stifle press freedom.<\/p>\n He wrote: <\/strong><\/p>\n Why are Bola Tinubu\u2019s people trying to bully @THISDAYLIVE into silence?
