{"id":235880,"date":"2022-12-18T11:58:06","date_gmt":"2022-12-18T10:58:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=235880"},"modified":"2022-12-18T11:58:06","modified_gmt":"2022-12-18T10:58:06","slug":"kano-shut-down-over-100-quack-hospitals-chemists-others","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/12\/18\/kano-shut-down-over-100-quack-hospitals-chemists-others\/","title":{"rendered":"Kano Shut Down Over 100 Quack Hospitals, Chemists, Others,"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In Kano State&#8217;s Tudunwada Local Government Area, more than a hundred dubious hospitals and pharmacies have been closed down, including a hospital with a phony surgeon performing childbirth.<\/p>\n<p>Following reports of frequent maternal deaths and patients developing malformations as a result of using the medical services, the owners of the facility were shut down and arrested.<\/p>\n<p>Concerned about the situation, the local government formed a health committee under the direction of a prominent member of the community, Abubakar Usman Kareba, who looked into it and discovered numerous phony medical clinics that were operating illegally nearby.<\/p>\n<p>Following the closure of the fraudulent medical facilities, Kareba informed reporters that the owners had been taken into custody.<\/p>\n<p>He said the local government would not relent in taking drastic legal actions against all those arrested, among who is a traditional medicine attendant but delivers women of babies and performs surgical operations.<\/p>\n<p>The quack doctor, James Bawa who is from Kaduna State, accepted that he was guilty of all the charges levelled against him but asked the committee to forgive with a promise to relocate back to his state.<\/p>\n<p>Another quack doctor, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/12\/05\/shehu-sani-reacts-to-atikus-comment-on-nigerias-health-facilities\/\">Mallam Shehu<\/a>, a traditional medicine attender, admitted that for a long time he was performing surgical operations in the area and that he was also injecting patients and receiving women in labour.<\/p>\n<p>The Committee Chairman, Abubakar Usman Kareba assured that they would not relent in taking legal action against all those that were arrested to serve as a deterrent to others.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In Kano State&#8217;s Tudunwada Local Government Area, more than a hundred dubious hospitals and pharmacies have been closed down, including a hospital with a phony surgeon performing childbirth.
