Doyin Okupe, director-general of the Peter Obi presidential campaign council, has been sentenced to two years imprisonment for breaching the money laundering act.<\/p>\n
He was convicted and sentenced by the federal high court in Abuja on Monday after he was found guilty of 26 out of a 59-count charge preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). <\/p>\n
Ijeoma Ojukwu, the presiding judge, sentenced Okupe to two years in prison on each of the counts.<\/p>\n
However, the sentence is to run concurrently.<\/p>\n
Additionally, the judge said the convict is at liberty to pay a N500,000 fine on each of the counts \u2014 totalling N13 million.<\/p>\n
