{"id":238402,"date":"2022-12-30T16:01:42","date_gmt":"2022-12-30T15:01:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=238402"},"modified":"2022-12-30T16:01:42","modified_gmt":"2022-12-30T15:01:42","slug":"update-lagos-slams-one-count-murder-charge-on-lawyers-suspected-killer-officer-vandi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/12\/30\/update-lagos-slams-one-count-murder-charge-on-lawyers-suspected-killer-officer-vandi\/","title":{"rendered":"UPDATE: Lagos slams one-count murder charge on lawyer\u2019s suspected killer-officer Vandi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Lagos State Government has filed a one-count murder charge against Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Drambi Vandi.<\/p>\n<p>He allegedly shot and killed an expectant lawyer, Mrs. Omobolanle Raheem, in Lagos on Christmas Day.<\/p>\n<p>WITHIN NIGERIA had earlier reported that a Yaba Chief Magistrate\u2019s Court in Lagos on Friday <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/12\/30\/policeman-remanded-in-prison-for-killing-pregnant-lawyer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">remanded him in the Ikoyi Correctional Centre<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Vandi was remanded till January 30, 2023, pending advice on the case from the Office of the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP).<\/p>\n<p>Chief Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun made the order following an application by Lagos State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN).<\/p>\n<p>Onigbanjo based his application on a temporary one-count murder charge against Vandi and under Section 264 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law (ACJL) of Lagos, 2015.<\/p>\n<p>The charge reads: \u201cThat you ASP Drambi Vandi on the 25th day of December 2022, at Ajah Road, along the Lekki Expressway, Lagos, unlawfully killed one Omobolanle Raheem by shooting the deceased in the chest contrary to Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Attorney-General told Chief Magistrate Olatunbosun that the basis for the remand is to allow the police to conclude its investigations.<\/p>\n<p>Miss Olatunbosun granted the request.<\/p>\n<p>She ordered that the case file be duplicated and sent to the Director of Public Prosecution, Dr. Jide Martins for legal advice.<\/p>\n<p>She adjourned till January 30, 2023, to await legal advice.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Lagos State Government has filed a one-count murder charge against Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Drambi Vandi.
