{"id":238530,"date":"2022-12-31T04:31:59","date_gmt":"2022-12-31T03:31:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=238530"},"modified":"2022-12-31T04:31:59","modified_gmt":"2022-12-31T03:31:59","slug":"akwa-ibom-man-beats-daughter-to-death-for-calling-boyfriend-with-his-sim-card","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/12\/31\/akwa-ibom-man-beats-daughter-to-death-for-calling-boyfriend-with-his-sim-card\/","title":{"rendered":"Akwa Ibom man beats daughter to death for calling boyfriend with his SIM card"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have arrested one Akaninyene Okokon for allegedly beating his 16-year old- daughter, Abasiono Akaninyene Sunday, to death, for calling boyfriend with his SIM card.<\/p>\n<p>The Commissioner of Police, Olatoye Durosinmi, who disclosed this on Friday while parading Okokon alongside 195 others, said the suspect was arrested by operatives of Ikot Ebo Divisional Headquarters following credible information.<\/p>\n<p>Durosinmi said, \u201cA total of 196 suspects have been arrested for various offences ranging from murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, child stealing, unlawful possession of firearms to pipeline vandalism, cultism, etc.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-238532 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/12\/kunlenet07\/2022\/12\/31\/Akaninyene-Okokon.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1440\" height=\"1440\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/12\/kunlenet07\/2022\/12\/31\/Akaninyene-Okokon.jpg 1440w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/12\/kunlenet07\/2022\/12\/31\/Akaninyene-Okokon-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/12\/kunlenet07\/2022\/12\/31\/Akaninyene-Okokon-1024x1024.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/12\/kunlenet07\/2022\/12\/31\/Akaninyene-Okokon-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/12\/kunlenet07\/2022\/12\/31\/Akaninyene-Okokon-768x768.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1440px) 100vw, 1440px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn the 11th of December 2022, relying on credible information, operatives of Ikot Ebo Divisional Headquarters arrested one Akaninyene Sunday Okokon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/10\/17\/adamawa-man-beats-daughter-to-death-after-ex-wife-allegedly-revealed-he-wasnt-her-biological-father\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">beat up his daughter<\/a>, Abasiono Akaninyene Sunday (16), for using his SIM card to call her boyfriend until she fainted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe victim was rushed to a prayer house at Ikot Iya village, instead of being taken to a hospital.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome of these suspects have been charged to court, investigation is ongoing for some, while others have been granted Police administrative bail.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo far, six kidnapped victims have been rescued, 18 locally-made pistols and other firearms recovered, while 11 vehicles snatched at different times and places in the state have been recovered.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn the 16th of December, at about 2pm, at Inua Eyet Mkpanak Village In Ibeno Local Government Area, operatives of the Special Investigation Bureau arrested some members of a syndicate that specializes in vandalizing petroleum pipeline.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While fielding questions from newsmen, Akaninyene Sunday Okokon who allegedly beat his daughter to death, said he could not have killed his daughter.<\/p>\n<p>He said his daughter died from a stomach upset.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI beat my daughter but she did not die when I stopped beating her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was after I stopped beating her that her mother told me that she (my daughter) was having stomach upset,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have arrested one Akaninyene Okokon for allegedly beating his 16-year old- daughter, Abasiono Akaninyene Sunday, to death, for calling boyfriend with his SIM card.
