Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode has defended Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello in the aftermath of the Okene explosion.<\/p>\n
WITHIN NIGERIA previously reported that the incident, which occurred near the old palace of the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, killed three people and injured two others.<\/p>\n
The bomb explosion, according to a statement issued by the Kogi government on Thursday, was the work of opponents of progress and state detractors.<\/p>\n
The government stated that it received intelligence that an explosion was imminent and immediately deployed security personnel across the state to thwart their efforts.<\/p>\n
Despite the massive deployment of security personnel across the state, the terrorists carried out their threat to divert President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to the state, according to the statement.<\/p>\n
Following the tragic incident, some critics of the Yahaya Bello administration blamed the governor for the explosion.<\/p>\n
In a tweet on Friday, Fani-Kayode responded to the accusation by saying those holding the governor responsible for the explosion are mentally ill.<\/p>\n
The All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain went on to say that the lie and accusation levelled against the Kogi governor are motivated by hatred and envy.<\/p>\n
