The Federal Government has said the 2023 general election will go ahead as planned. <\/p>\n

It said no threat from any quarter can stop the conduct of the 2023 general election, which is just over a month away.<\/p>\n

The federal government was reacting to assertion by the Independent National Electoral Commission that the elections may not take place in some states owing to security threats by non-state actors.<\/a>
\nHowever, addressing a news conference in Abuja on Tuesday, the Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said no amount of security hiccups can stop the elections from holding. <\/p>\n

The minister said: \u201cLet me use this opportunity to respond to inquiries from the media over a widely-circulated report, credited to an INEC official, that the 2023 general elections face a serious threat of cancellation due to insecurity.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe position of the Federal Government remains that the 2023 elections will be held as planned. Nothing has happened to change thatposition.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are aware that INEC is working with the security agencies to ensure that the elections are successfully held across the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe security agencies have also continued to assure Nigerians that they are working tirelessly to ensure that the elections are held in apeaceful atmosphere. Therefore, there is no cause for alarm,\u201d Mohammed stated.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
