Four people have been killed by gunmen on Nzomiwu Street in the Eziani community of the Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State.<\/p>\n
According to reports, the gunmen entered the neighbourhood on Tuesday and began shooting into the air, killing the four victims\u2014three men and a woman who was reportedly pregnant.<\/p>\n
The reason for the attack could not be ascertained, but a source in the area said the gunmen immediately fled the scene after killing the victims.<\/p>\n
According to the source, the armed men fired randomly as bullets struck the four people.<\/p>\n
Confirming the attack in a press statement, the state police spokesman, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the bodies of the victims had been deposited at the mortuary.<\/p>\n
Ikenga said, \u201cPolice\/military operations have been intensified in Ihiala and its neighbouring town as operatives responded to a distress call in the early hours of Tuesday on Nzomiwu Street, Eziani, Ihiala, recovered lifeless bodies, three males and one female at the scene.<\/p>\n
