{"id":240870,"date":"2023-01-11T14:38:17","date_gmt":"2023-01-11T13:38:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=240870"},"modified":"2023-01-11T14:43:53","modified_gmt":"2023-01-11T13:43:53","slug":"why-countries-institutions-keep-approving-loans-for-nigeria-buhari","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/01\/11\/why-countries-institutions-keep-approving-loans-for-nigeria-buhari\/","title":{"rendered":"Why countries, institutions keep approving loans for Nigeria \u2013 Buhari"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>President Muhammadu Buhari has spoken on Nigeria\u2019s debt profile and why countries and institutions keep lending to the country.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on Wednesday at the State House when he met with members of the Catholic Bishops\u2019 Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), Buhari said Nigeria keeps getting loan because creditors are certain it will pay back. <\/p>\n<p>Buhari said creditors had full confidence that Nigeria has the capacity to utilize resources and repay <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/10\/19\/wike-threatens-to-expose-those-behind-non-release-of-cbn-loans-to-abia-benue\/\">loans<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are credible, that\u2019s why the countries and institutions agreed to support our development with loans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He, however, condemned the destruction of oil facilities which slowed the generation of revenues.<\/p>\n<p>The President assured the clerics that the government would be harder on saboteurs.<\/p>\n<p>Buhari added that challenges faced in the past, including coups and civil war, prepared the nation for survival.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe thank God that Nigeria is still one.
