{"id":241560,"date":"2023-01-14T14:15:19","date_gmt":"2023-01-14T13:15:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=241560"},"modified":"2023-01-14T14:15:19","modified_gmt":"2023-01-14T13:15:19","slug":"why-i-chose-funke-akindele-as-my-running-mate-jandor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/01\/14\/why-i-chose-funke-akindele-as-my-running-mate-jandor\/","title":{"rendered":"Why I chose Funke Akindele as my running mate &#8211; Jandor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jandor (Dr. Abdul-Azeez Adediran), the PDP candidate for governor in Lagos, claimed that he selected Nollywood actress Funke Akindele as his running mate to demonstrate that his administration will continue to prioritize issues affecting women and children.<\/p>\n<p>This was said by Jandor while speaking to widows, non-Yoruba communities, and members of the Women Mobilization Committee (WOMOKO) in the Somolu Local Government Area.<\/p>\n<p>The governorship candidate emphasized that violence against them would result in harsh penalties and said that his administration would not tolerate abuse of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/07\/13\/theyre-not-serious-apc-mocks-pdp-jandor-over-choice-of-funke-akindele-as-running-mate\/\">women and children<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Adediran also pledged to empower women and young people in a sustainable way by creating favorable conditions.<\/p>\n<p>He said his government would not share noodles as empowerment but would give residents financial support to do business and monitor their progress to ensure they expanded and employed others.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, his government will also ensure free and compulsory education with free school uniforms.<\/p>\n<p>Adediran said the Feb. 25 presidential elections remained the most important, hence the need for the people to vote for the PDP candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.<\/p>\n<p>He urged the people not to be deceived to vote along ethnic or religious lines, stressing that being related by blood does not guarantee help to anyone.<\/p>\n<p>He said that if Abubakar won, other state elections would be easy for the party to win.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Mrs. Josephine Shontan of the Folashade Olukoya Foundation Widows\u2019 Forum, who spoke on behalf of widows, said that the state was in dire need of a deliverer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need a governor that will help us in Lagos as widows. We are widows and we do not have anyone to help us.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you win and become governor, don\u2019t forget us,\u201d Shontan pleaded.<\/p>\n<p>Adediran, in his response, assured the people that all his promises were given on his integrity, adding that he had no intention to scam the residents.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI won\u2019t lie to you. I have not told you lies. I will make a difference and make Lagos work for all including you.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll residents and community of people will be considered important and will be listened to. We want to run a people-oriented government you all will be proud of.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI won\u2019t promise what I will not do. All I have said are on my integrity. I am determined to bring in a breath of fresh air in Lagos. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/07\/06\/i-havent-picked-funke-akindele-as-deputy-jandor-lagos-pdp-gov-candidate\/\">Relax your mind<\/a>, God sees your heart\u2019s desires and God will fulfil your desires.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll of you will enjoy my government. God has blessed Lagos State so much to create happiness for all residents.
