{"id":241746,"date":"2023-01-15T12:16:11","date_gmt":"2023-01-15T11:16:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=241746"},"modified":"2023-01-15T12:16:11","modified_gmt":"2023-01-15T11:16:11","slug":"one-feared-dead-as-tanker-falls-in-lagos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/01\/15\/one-feared-dead-as-tanker-falls-in-lagos\/","title":{"rendered":"One feared dead as tanker falls in Lagos"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One person has been feared dead after a diesel-laden tanker fell on a stationary towing van at Otto Wharf, along Apapa \u2013 Oshodi Expressway, Mile 2, Lagos.<\/p>\n<p>It was gathered that the incident which happened in the early hours of Sunday, also left another person injured.<\/p>\n<p>The Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margret Adeseye, who disclosed this in a statement said the incident occurred as a result of the barriers introduced by toll collectors in the community.<\/p>\n<p>Adeseye said, \u201cThe incident, which was reported at 4am, Sunday wee hours, has a 45,000 litres <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/01\/04\/okada-rider-trapped-as-tanker-falls-in-lagos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tanker<\/a> heading towards Oshodi from Apapa where it loaded diesel to full capacity before it was reported to have fallen on a stationed towing van while on motion, negotiating its way out of barriers introduced by nefarious toll collectors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe resultant accident was mitigated by the Sari-Iganmu Fire Crew of the agency from resulting in a fire incident,\u201d adding \u201ctwo male adults were involved as one was rescued alive with injuries (and taken) to the hospital, and the other victim recovered was suspected dead.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She added that the remains of the tanker and the towing van had been evacuated.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One person has been feared dead after a diesel-laden tanker fell on a stationary towing van at Otto Wharf, along Apapa \u2013 Oshodi Expressway, Mile 2, Lagos.
