Members of the Osun State House of Assembly and the Speaker of the House, Timothy Owoeye are currently at war over alleged misappropriation of funds.<\/p>\n
Reports revealed that\u00a0the situation got so bad that members suggested removing the Speaker over what they described as \u201chigh handedness\u201d.<\/p>\n
According to sources within the Assembly,\u00a0lawmakers got huge amount of money for members welfare during the last festive season but the members were displeased with the amount given to them.<\/p>\n
Additional findings revealed that\u00a0the lawmakers were given N250,000 each which they claimed was too small considering the total amount given to House.<\/p>\n
It was learnt that the members on Thursday met to discuss the\u00a0issue with a view to ensuring that the Speaker\u2019s \u201cover bearing influence\u201d is checked.<\/p>\n
The aforementioned publication reported that a lawmaker, who pleaded anonymity, disclosed that the lawmakers were displeased with the Speaker\u2019s disposition on the issue.<\/p>\n
\u201cWell, some persons told us the Speaker used a substantial part of the money to buy food items as present for staffers of the Assembly during the festive season.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut that ought to have been done with member\u2019s consent. We are still on the matter and we will get to the root,\u201d a lawmaker told the aforementioned publication.<\/p>\n
However, the Speaker\u2019s spokesperson, Kunle Alabi in a separate interview with The PUNCH stated that there was no infighting amongst the members, adding that whatever the lawmaker got for welfare is their legitimate earnings.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs far as Osun State House of Assembly is concerned, we remain one irrespective of whatever change in government.<\/p>\n
