Sunday saw the first rainfall in 2023 in a few locations in the metropolis of Lagos.<\/p>\n

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), rain began to fall around Lawanson in the Lagos neighborhoods of Surulere, Apapa Road, Costain, and Oyingbo.<\/p>\n

The intensity of the morning rain, which lasted less than 30 minutes, varied in the various areas mentioned.<\/p>\n

The rain only drizzled around Ijegun, along the Jakande\/Isolo area of Lagos, according to NAN.<\/p>\n

However, the drizzle was enough to reduce the dust on the road.<\/p>\n

When contacted by NAN, some residents of these areas expressed their happiness but urged the government and locals to take action to prevent floods.<\/p>\n

They also hoped the coming of the rain will help to ease the heat experienced at night as well as make for improved yields in the year\u2019s agricultural season.<\/p>\n

A civil servant, Mrs Joy Obinnu, told NAN that the rain, which started about 10:00 a.m, fell for 20 minutes consistently in Lawanson.<\/p>\n

Obinnu said that young boys were seen playing football in the rain in excitement.<\/p>\n

She expressed the hope that the rain would reduce<\/a> the prevailing heat being experienced in the neighbourhood and usher cool nights.<\/p>\n

Some other residents of Lagos state wished that the rain could fall more than it did on Sunday to reduce the heat being experienced, which according to them, has been made worse by the epileptic power supply and fuel scarcity.<\/p>\n

Mr Akin Obasa, an Agriculturist, said the rain should be a reminder for farmers to start preparing for the farming season.<\/p>\n

He, however, said they should still wait a while for the rain to be a bit more consistent before they start cultivating.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
