{"id":244035,"date":"2023-01-24T14:26:24","date_gmt":"2023-01-24T13:26:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=244035"},"modified":"2023-01-24T14:26:24","modified_gmt":"2023-01-24T13:26:24","slug":"african-american-woman-swindled-by-nigerian-returns-to-us","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/01\/24\/african-american-woman-swindled-by-nigerian-returns-to-us\/","title":{"rendered":"African-American woman swindled by Nigerian returns to US"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The African-American lady, Vonapolouis Moss, who was allegedly defrauded by a suspected internet fraudster, Awoleye Joshua Oluwatofunmi, has been flown back to the United States of America.<\/p>\n<p>Awoleye Joshua allegedly defrauded the lady of thousands of dollars under a phony relationship which unravelled on her arrival to Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>Joshua claimed to be an HND 1 student of the Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, a claim refuted by the institution\u2019s management. <\/p>\n<p>The Kwara State Police Commissioner, Paul Odama, disclosed this to newsmen while parading suspected criminals, including kidnap suspects, at the state police command headquarters in Ilorin on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>He said, as promised by the police command recently, concerned authorities were reached to ensure the safe return of the African-American lady to her country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe lady has been flown back to the US, she is safe in the US now, while the suspect, Awoleye Joshua, has been charged to court and remanded, the case will continue,\u201d the police commissioner stated.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that Vonapolouis Moss of Indiana, United States of America, was lured by Awoleye Joshua to Nigeria <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/01\/14\/how-yahoo-boy-tricked-me-into-nigeria-us-victim\/\">under a suspicious and questionable romantic relationship.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Vonapolouis, in a chat with journalists in Ilorin before her return to the US, had said after her bitter experience that \u201d I just want to go back home\u201d amid tears, \u201cI think it is a lesson learnt.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She said, \u201cI have been helping people and would not want anything bad to happen to him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know what else to say, besides I see Nigeria as a beautiful place, I have never lived in a place with a lot of black people, I see so many beautiful black people living in one place.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe hospitality of the people is so amazing, it is a beautiful place and I would love to come back with my family,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The African-American lady, Vonapolouis Moss, who was allegedly defrauded by a suspected internet fraudster, Awoleye Joshua Oluwatofunmi, has been flown back to the United States of America.
