{"id":244732,"date":"2023-01-27T13:14:17","date_gmt":"2023-01-27T12:14:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=244732"},"modified":"2023-01-27T13:14:17","modified_gmt":"2023-01-27T12:14:17","slug":"just-in-adeleke-rejects-tribunal-verdict-heads-to-appeal-court","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/01\/27\/just-in-adeleke-rejects-tribunal-verdict-heads-to-appeal-court\/","title":{"rendered":"JUST IN: Adeleke rejects tribunal verdict, heads to Appeal Court"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun State, referred to the decision of the governorship election petitions tribunal as &#8220;a miscarriage of justice&#8221; and vowed to appeal the decision.<\/p>\n<p>WITHIN NIGERIA reports that the July 16 Osun governorship election result was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/01\/27\/breaking-tribunal-sacks-adeleke-as-osun-governor\/\">nullified by the Election Petitions Tribunal on Friday after hearing Adegboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress&#8217; case challenging Ademola Adeleke&#8217;s victory.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Independent National Electoral Commission did not substantially comply with the terms of the Electoral Act, according to Justice Tetsea Kume&#8217;s majority ruling.<\/p>\n<p>Reacting to the verdict of the tribunal from his country home in Ede, Adeleke faulted the resolution of the over-voting question in favour of Mr Adegboyega Oyetola, calling it \u201can unfair interpretation against the will of majority of voters\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While urging his supporters to remain calm, Adeleke vowed to appeal the judgement at the Court of Appeal, insisting he remained the rightful winner of the July 16 election.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI call on our people to remain calm. We will appeal the judgement and we are sure justice will be done.
