A middle-aged housewife, Mrs Olawumi Olasemo has told a Mapo Grade \u2018A\u2019 Customary Court in Ibadan that her Wale attempted to use their two children for ritual.<\/p>\n

Olawumi petitioned the court to annul her marriage to Olasemo<\/a> due to the attempted money ritual.<\/p>\n

She told the court that she was deeply saddened by her estranged husband’s attempt to use their two children in a money ritual.<\/p>\n

She also stated that she was afraid of her husband because of his negative attitude and lack of love for her.<\/p>\n

She said her husband who was not present in court became unhappy after she noticed that he wanted to use the two children for ritual.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I took note of Olasemo\u2019s desperate attempt to use our two children for money ritual, he became unhappy.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe beats me. I parted ways with Olasemo about eight years ago and he has since remarried.<\/p>\n

However, Olasemo was absent from court.<\/p>\n

The court noted that the respondent was duly served with originating summon as well as notice of court hearing, but preferred not to make any appearance.<\/p>\n

Delivering judgment, the court\u2019s President, Mrs S.M. Akintayo pronounced the marriage dissolved, noting that the evidence tendered by the petitioner indicated that there was a valid customary marriage between Olawumi and Olasemo.<\/p>\n

Akintayo said that the dissolution was necessary in the interest of peaceful living especially with the involvement of the lives of the children for money ritual.<\/p>\n

Quoting relevant sections of the law to back her judgment, Akintayo awarded custody of the two children from the union to Olawumi and ordered Olasemo to pay N20,000 as the children\u2019s monthly feeding<\/a> allowance to the court.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, she granted the order restraining the respondent from harassing, molesting and interfering with the private life of the petitioner.<\/p>\n

Also, the president directed the two to be jointly responsible for the education and other welfare of the children.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
