Thomas Partey, who hobbled off the field after Arsenal’s FA Cup loss to Manchester City, will have an MRI, according to Mikel Arteta.<\/p>\n

Manchester City, Arsenal’s closest Premier League title contenders, won 1-0 on Friday night thanks to Nathan Ake’s 64th-minute strike. The Premier League leaders have been knocked out of this season’s FA Cup by a narrow victory.<\/p>\n

In the midst of all of this, the Gunners’ 29-year-old Ghanaian midfielder suffered a rib injury in the first period of the FA Cup 4th round match, which caused them serious concern.<\/p>\n

Partey<\/a> was replaced by Albert Sambi Lokonga during the break.<\/p>\n

Mikel Arteta admitted after the game that he didn’t want to “take any risks” with the star midfielder.<\/p>\n

He said:<\/strong><\/p>\n

He felt something and we didn\u2019t want to take any risks, so he could not continue.<\/em><\/p>\n

Obviously tomorrow (Saturday), the day after he will have to have an MRI scan and see what he has.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Arteta will now have to wait to find out the full extent of the damage because teammate midfielder Mohamed Elneny is also out with a knee injury.<\/p>\n

Throughout the transfer window, Arsenal has attempted to strengthen the team’s midfield. Brighton, on the other hand, turned down Arsenal’s initial bid for Moises Caicedo.<\/p>\n

In a stunning social media post, the 21-year-old Ecuadorian World Cup sensation begs the Seagulls to release him, as talks between the two clubs are expected to continue.<\/p>\n

In reaction to Caicedo\u2019s transfer situation, Mikel Arteta said:<\/strong><\/p>\n

As I said before, we have been pretty active in the market.<\/em><\/p>\n
