Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC<\/a>) presidential candidate, declared on Sunday that he hopes to occupy the Aso Rock Villa as Nigeria’s next President in 2023.<\/p>\n

Tinubu said in Benin, the capital of Edo State, that he has fought hard for Nigeria’s democracy and that it is natural for him to look forward to succeeding Buhari.<\/p>\n

The former Lagos State Governor stated that he hopes to take over as President of Nigeria when President Muhammadu Buhari’s term ends in May 2023.<\/p>\n

To that end, he informed Oba Ewuare II, the Oba of Benin, that he was in the state to seek the traditional ruler’s prayers for the 2023 election.<\/p>\n

He said:<\/strong><\/p>\n

I am here to seek your prayers, I fought for and suffered for democracy in this country, I made sacrifices.<\/em><\/p>\n

When we started these eight years, it is only normal to look forward to succession and I told President Buhari that I am running and I am running nowhere.<\/em><\/p>\n

I am running for the Villa. When you move out, I want to occupy the place. Therefore I need your blessings, that blessing is important to me.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

During the visit, Oba Ewuare II praised Tinubu for his plans to support the Museum of Benin Artefacts, which the traditional ruler believes will benefit tourism and research.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
