{"id":245443,"date":"2023-01-30T16:47:13","date_gmt":"2023-01-30T15:47:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=245443"},"modified":"2023-01-30T16:47:13","modified_gmt":"2023-01-30T15:47:13","slug":"trouble-for-oyetola-as-inec-makes-clarification-on-bvas-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/01\/30\/trouble-for-oyetola-as-inec-makes-clarification-on-bvas-report\/","title":{"rendered":"Trouble for Oyetola as INEC makes clarification on BVAS Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A former Director of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has claimed that not all data was transmitted when the All Progressives Congress (APC) obtained the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) server report following the judgment of the Osun State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, which removed Governor Ademola Adeleke and reinstated Gboyega Oyetola.<\/p>\n<p>WITHIN NIGERIA reports that Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi, a former INEC director of voter education and publicity, there shouldn&#8217;t have been a discrepancy in the governorship election for Osun State in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>He clarified that some of the data had not yet been communicated by the BVAS hardware because the APC had already received a certified copy of the original server report.<\/p>\n<p>Osaze-Uzzi, however, pointed out that the judgment was not a unanimous judgement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe machines were tendered, so were the reports from the server, and there ought not to have been a discrepancy, but somewhere along the line, not all the data had been transmitted at the time the APC obtained the certified copy of the initial server report,\u201d he said while speaking on Channels TV\u2019s Sunrise Daily.<\/p>\n<p>Osaze-Uzzi, however, described the judgement as a validation of the role <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/01\/27\/inec-set-february-4-for-mock-accreditation-with-bvas\/\">BVAS<\/a> has played in enhancing the electoral process.<\/p>\n<p>Rather than view the discrepancy from a negative perspective, he encouraged stakeholders to take a more optimistic outlook, arguing that BVAS exposed the over-voting in the election.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A former Director of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has claimed that not all data was transmitted when the All Progressives Congress (APC) obtained the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) server report following the judgment of the Osun State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, which removed Governor Ademola Adeleke and reinstated Gboyega Oyetola.
