{"id":245822,"date":"2023-02-01T06:13:38","date_gmt":"2023-02-01T05:13:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=245822"},"modified":"2023-02-01T06:13:38","modified_gmt":"2023-02-01T05:13:38","slug":"nnpc-to-inec-well-make-sure-petrol-is-available-during-elections","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/02\/01\/nnpc-to-inec-well-make-sure-petrol-is-available-during-elections\/","title":{"rendered":"NNPC to INEC: We&#8217;ll make sure petrol is available during elections"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigerian Nationa Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has disclosed that it will ensure the availability of petrol during elections.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that a team<span class=\"s1\">\u00a0from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) led by Mahmood Yakubu, INEC chairperson, visited the NNPC towers in Abuja on Tuesday to discuss the availability of petrol during the forthcoming elections.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Yakubu had earlier stated\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">INEC\u2019s logistics arrangements for the elections may be affected by the scarcity of petrol.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Speaking during the meeting, Mele Kyari, NNPC\u2019s group chief executive officer (GCEO), said the company has always, without formal request, supported <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/01\/31\/elections-fuel-scarcity-could-affect-logistics-inec\/\">INEC<\/a> in making sure that petrol is available for all vehicles involved in the electoral process.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Kyari said while is the largest downstream company in the country at present, it is possible that there may be some locations where they are not present.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cWe\u2019ll work with your logistics team to identify those areas where we may not have presence so that we can bring in other marketing companies into the conversation so that the products are made available to all the 100,000 vehicles that you have indicated,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cThere will be no difficulty doing this. We have presence; we are everywhere.\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">But where we are not, we will provide commercial conversation between the commission and other marketing companies so that when you need this product, you will have it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cAlso, in addition to this, we\u2019re the only company that has floating mega stations in the country. We will also look at this and see how we can make it available for the purpose of the marine operations in the riverine areas of our country.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cI assure you,<\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0just as you have indicated, we have taken very extreme measures to see that we can contain the current distribution challenges that we have and we believe that within the next one week, there will be significant relief, if not elimination, of the current situation that we\u2019re facing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cIn respect of that, we\u2019ll make arrangements to make sure their products are made available to your vehicles during the election period or as a build-up to the elections.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigerian Nationa Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has disclosed that it will ensure the availability of petrol during elections.
