{"id":245986,"date":"2023-02-01T19:03:53","date_gmt":"2023-02-01T18:03:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=245986"},"modified":"2023-02-01T19:03:53","modified_gmt":"2023-02-01T18:03:53","slug":"ondo-pastor-fakes-obituary-to-avoid-n3m-debt-repayment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/02\/01\/ondo-pastor-fakes-obituary-to-avoid-n3m-debt-repayment\/","title":{"rendered":"Ondo pastor fakes obituary to avoid N3m debt repayment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 43-year-old pastor, Paul Oyewole, allegedly faked his own obituary on the social media platform, WhatsApp, in a bid to avoid repaying a \u20a63 million debt owed to a church member.<\/p>\n<p>According to Vanguard, Oyewole was arraigned on Wednesday at the Chief Magistrate Court, Ondo Town, Ondo on charges of fraudulently obtaining \u20a63m from one Boyede Emmanuel, with the promise to pay back the money within seven days, a promise he failed to fulfill.<\/p>\n<p>Police Prosecutor, Akao Moremi, informed the court that the defendant falsely published his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/06\/11\/woman-bans-family-from-her-funeral-and-publishes-guest-list-for-own-obituary-in-spain\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">obituary<\/a> on WhatsApp after he had sent a fake bank alert.<\/p>\n<p>He was also said to have \u201cthreatened the complainant on phone, with the intent to intimidate him and also conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace, by stripping himself naked in front of the house of the complainant.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Oyewole has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
