{"id":246496,"date":"2023-02-04T10:12:27","date_gmt":"2023-02-04T09:12:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=246496"},"modified":"2023-02-04T10:12:27","modified_gmt":"2023-02-04T09:12:27","slug":"tinubu-not-desperate-to-be-president-says-apc-chieftain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/02\/04\/tinubu-not-desperate-to-be-president-says-apc-chieftain\/","title":{"rendered":"Tinubu not desperate to be President, says APC chieftain"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tolu Bankole, a member of the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress has described the\u00a0presidential candidate of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, as a patriot interested in the wellbeing of the masses.<\/p>\n<p>This was contained in a statement released on Friday in Abuja by Bankole.<\/p>\n<p>He said\u00a0Tinubu\u2019s concern over the lingering fuel crisis and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/02\/04\/this-is-so-painful-mr-macaroni-roasts-gbajabiamila-over-social-media-video-amidst-new-notes-fuel-scarcity\/\">scarcity<\/a> of the new naira notes, depicted him as one not desperate to be President.<\/p>\n<p>The disability rights advocate said, \u201cThe strong position expressed by our party\u2019s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is a show of commitment to a better Nigeria and her endless possibilities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTrue patriotism implies a deep love for one\u2019s country that not only desires the best for one\u2019s fellow countrymen but also demands that the country should pursue its aims with honesty and empathy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe has displayed an ineffable love unequalled in the political history of the world. Asiwaju chose to empathise with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/07\/15\/2023-presidency-ruling-class-using-religion-to-divide-masses-keyamo\/\">masses<\/a> that have been subjected to untold hardship.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe easier option by most party faithful would be to say yes or maintain silence to all government programmes no matter how discomforting for political correctness.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe ability to confront and speak out against some policies of the government considered to be \u2018anti-masses\u2019 by Asiwaju should be applauded by all. Selflessness is exhibited at the most critical moment.
