The Children, Sexual and Gender Based Violence Magistrate Court sitting in Awka has sentenced a 35 year old woman to prison in \u00c0wka for Child Labor, Abduction of children and child stealing.<\/p>\n

The convict Success James, was tried in an 8 count charge and was found guilty of seven charges by the presiding court.<\/p>\n

Delivering the sentence, the Chief Magistrate, Genevieve Osakwe found the convict guilty in count 1 and sentenced her to 5years imprisonment, count 2- 5years, count 3- 2 years, count 4- 4 years, count 5- 2 years, count 7- 2 years and count 8- 1year prison term respectively.<\/p>\n

Chief Magistrate Osakwe added that all the sentence is to run concurrently with no option of fine.<\/p>\n

The convict, Success James is the woman who was apprehended in Onitsha<\/a> and arraigned before the magistrate court in Awka last December for abducting four teenage girls from \u00c1kw\u00e1 Ibom and using them for child labor.<\/p>\n

Recall that last year four teenage girls was rescued by the Honorable commissioner for women and social welfare, Hon Ify Obinabo two days to Christmas.<\/p>\n

The girls who are 15, 14, 15 and 13 years old respectively all hail from Akwa Ibom.<\/p>\n

They also noted that they were taken by one auntie Success who told them that she has a job opportunity for them in Agbor, Delta state where they will be selling drinks in a beer parlor but on getting there, they discovered that it was prostitution work they were brought to do.<\/p>\n

Reacting to the news, the Women and Social Welfare Commissioner Hon. Obinabo expressed happiness with the judgement and revealed that the children had been enrolled in school and they have at the same time started learning skills of their choice at the state Skills acquisition center in Awka.<\/p>\n

Hon Obinabo went further to warn that the state will not tolerate such crime and will continue to do her best to ensure that children and women get justice.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
