{"id":24841,"date":"2021-04-22T22:07:41","date_gmt":"2021-04-22T21:07:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=24841"},"modified":"2021-04-22T22:07:41","modified_gmt":"2021-04-22T21:07:41","slug":"nlc-declares-strike-over-mass-sack-of-workers-in-kaduna","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/04\/22\/nlc-declares-strike-over-mass-sack-of-workers-in-kaduna\/","title":{"rendered":"NLC declares strike over mass sack of workers in Kaduna"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has declared a five-day strike in both public and private organisations in Kaduna State to protest mass sack of workers by the state government.<\/p>\n<p>This was made known on Thursday April 22 after the Central Working Committee of the NLC met in Abuja over the disengagement of 4000 workers across the 23 Local Government Areas of Kaduna State.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing journalists at the end of the meeting, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/03\/09\/nlc-to-embark-on-nationwide-protest-announces-date\/\">President of the NLC, Ayuba Wabba<\/a>, said the five-day withdrawal of service by workers in the state will become total if there is no remorse from the state government.<\/p>\n<p>The decision of the administration of Governor Nasir El-Rufai to disengage 4000 workers across the 23 Local Government Areas of Kaduna State has sparked outrage.<\/p>\n<p>Daily Trust reports that on April 6, over 4000 staff across 23 local governments received their disengagement letters.<\/p>\n<p>Reacting to the development, Wabba, President of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/03\/14\/nlc-gives-fayemi-deadline-to-pay-workers-outstanding-salaries\/\">Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC)<\/a>, described the action as \u201carbitrary and cruel\u201d, and called on the Kaduna State Government to reverse the mass sack.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has declared a five-day strike in both public and private organisations in Kaduna State to protest mass sack of workers by the state government.
