{"id":249120,"date":"2023-02-15T11:26:45","date_gmt":"2023-02-15T10:26:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=249120"},"modified":"2023-02-15T11:26:45","modified_gmt":"2023-02-15T10:26:45","slug":"recession-imf-appoints-financial-supervision-adviser-for-bank-of-ghana","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/02\/15\/recession-imf-appoints-financial-supervision-adviser-for-bank-of-ghana\/","title":{"rendered":"Recession: IMF appoints financial supervision adviser for Bank of Ghana"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The International Monetary Fund has appointed Leonard Chumo as a Resident Adviser in the Financial Sector Supervision to the Bank of Ghana.<\/p>\n<p>Chumo is to provide technical assistance and help build the capacity of the banking supervision function.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the request of Bank of Ghana and fully funded by Switzerland\u2019s State Secretariat for Economic Affairs, the IMF has assigned a Resident Adviser in Financial Sector Supervision to the Bank of Ghana,\u201d a statement published on the BoG website on Tuesday read.<\/p>\n<p>According to the BoG, Chumo brings first-hand knowledge of supervisory work from leading central banks as well as previous technical assistance experience in the West African region.<\/p>\n<p>Starting his assignment at the BoG on February 6, 2023, Chumo is expected to serve there for three years.<\/p>\n<p>He will also support the implementation of Pillar 2 and 3 of the Basel II\/III capital frameworks, as well as strengthen the Risk-Based Supervisory framework at the Bank.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/08\/18\/inflation-ghanas-central-bank-raises-interest-rate-to-22\/\">Bank of Ghana<\/a> expressed its utmost appreciation to SECO for the continued funding of Long-Term Technical Experts from the IMF to the Bank.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Adviser\u2019s placement is a continuation of cooperation in this area between the Bank of Ghana, the IMF and SECO, that started as early as in 2015 and had already seen the assignment of a previous Adviser until 2018,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The International Monetary Fund has appointed Leonard Chumo as a Resident Adviser in the Financial Sector Supervision to the Bank of Ghana.
