Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has expressed his displeasure with the extortionate tactics used by Point of Sale (PoS) operators and gas station attendants.<\/p>\n

On Saturday at the Lagos House in Marina, Sanwo-Olu spoke to reporters about the current situation brought on by the redesign<\/a> of the Naira.<\/p>\n

He claimed that the operators had turned extortionist as a result of the circumstance.<\/p>\n

Sanwo-Olu appealed to those involved in such behaviour to desist from such sharp practices.<\/p>\n

\u201dWe have noticed with dismay the rampant incidents surrounding some of the players in the financial services value chain (PoS agents\/operators); as well as petrol station attendants.<\/p>\n

\u201dThey have taken the current challenges to mean an opportunity to extort hard-working and law-abiding Lagosians with extortionate service charges on funds withdrawal and sale of PMS.<\/p>\n

\u201dIt is especially in difficult times like these that we all need to be our brothers\u2019 and sisters\u2019 keepers and do everything we can to contribute to lessening the hardships faced by our fellow Lagosians.<\/p>\n

\u201dThis is not the period to sacrifice empathy, compassion, and humanity on the altar of profit-making,\u201d the governor said.<\/p>\n

He urged Lagos, residents, to resist the opportunists who sought to take advantage of the anger and frustration that were being felt to hijack the situation and foment trouble.<\/p>\n
