{"id":250259,"date":"2023-02-20T12:11:07","date_gmt":"2023-02-20T11:11:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=250259"},"modified":"2023-02-20T14:48:39","modified_gmt":"2023-02-20T13:48:39","slug":"court-bars-inec-from-using-mc-oluomo-to-distribute-election-materials","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/02\/20\/court-bars-inec-from-using-mc-oluomo-to-distribute-election-materials\/","title":{"rendered":"Court bars INEC from using MC Oluomo to distribute election materials"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke of the Federal High Court, Lagos, has granted the prayer of the Labour Party, LP, seeking an order to bar the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, from using the chairman of the Lagos Parks and Garages, Musliu Akinsanya, better known as MC Oluomo from distributing election materials in Lagos.<\/p>\n<p>In the other news, the Nigerian Guild of Editors has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/02\/19\/inec-receives-sensitive-non-sensitive-materials-in-kwara\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">INEC<\/a>, to deliver on its promises to conduct successful polls.<\/p>\n<p>NGE President, Mustapha Isah and the General Secretary, Iyobosa Uwugiaren, said this at the end of a meeting of its Standing Committee in Abeokuta, Ogun State.<\/p>\n<p>The guild also urged the security agencies and other stakeholders to live up to expectations in making sure that the presidential and National Assembly elections scheduled for February 25 and the governorship\/states Houses of Assembly elections slated for March 11 turn out successful.<\/p>\n<p>The guild said, \u201dNigerians desire that their votes will count and we\u2019re expectant of free, fair and credible elections, devoid of violence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe call on the INEC to make good its promise of early deployment of electoral materials to polling units on election days and ensure its personnel, in their conduct, don\u2019t deviate from provisions of the Electoral Act and other laws guiding the elections.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke of the Federal High Court, Lagos, has granted the prayer of the Labour Party, LP, seeking an order to bar the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, from using the chairman of the Lagos Parks and Garages, Musliu Akinsanya, better known as MC Oluomo from distributing election materials in Lagos.
