Local farmers in the country on Saturday congratulated the President-elect, As\u00edw\u00e1j\u00fa Bola Tinubu, on his victory at the just concluded presidential election.<\/p>\n

They also used the opportunity to express their readiness for the revolution the former Lagos State governor promised farmers in his \u2018Renewed Hope\u2019 manifesto.<\/p>\n

Tinubu had polled 8,794,726 votes to defeat his closest rivals, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party and Labour Party\u2019s Peter Obi, who polled 6,984,520 and 6,101,533 votes respectively.<\/p>\n

Addressing journalists at the town hall in Abuja on Saturday, the Zonal Coordinator (North-West) of Agro Commodities Directorate of the APC presidential campaign council, Bello Abubakar, explained that the President-elect\u2019s focus on agriculture during his campaign was the motivating factor that spurred farmers in their millions to vote massively for him.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cTheir focus on agriculture from day one has encouraged and mobilised farmers in their millions to vote for the ticket and we are pleased we won decisively. We are ready for the incoming \u2018agbado and cassava\u2019 revolution that he promised in the agricultural revolution. The greatness of this country lies in the farm fields of rural Nigeria.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe in the directorate also wish to extend sincere gratitude to other Nigerian farmers for coming out en-mass to vote for Asiwaju\/Shettima ticket<\/a> based on their belief that the renewed hope manifesto is a clear pathway to peace, unity and sustainable development of Nigeria.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe pray that the farmers mandate will never be truncated or stolen. Let us be clear, the mandate is a trust to them based on their proven records in Lagos and Borno States and their excellent administrative prowess over the years as well as sustained nationalism.\u201d<\/p>\n

The farmer also used the opportunity to urge Obi; his counterpart in the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku and other aggrieved candidates who were defeated in Saturday\u2019s presidential poll to seek legal means to air their grievance.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
