Chief Kenneth Gbagi, the Social Democratic Party’s governorship candidate in Delta State, has promised to revitalise the dormant Asaba textile mill if elected governor in Saturday’s election.<\/p>\n

Gbagi made the promise while speaking at a rally in Asaba on Saturday attended<\/a> by pastors from various churches and women’s groups.<\/p>\n

He declared that \u201cWithin one year of being in government, we will take Asaba textile mill and restore it back. We will produce all kinds of clothing materials. We will export the clothing materials to other countries.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gbagi explained that he will restore the textile firm, employ youths, and keep it running, a development that he claims will help boost Asaba’s economy and increase the state government’s internally generated revenue.<\/p>\n

In addition, the SDP governorship candidate<\/a> stated that his administration will convert a portion of the Isoko lands into a rice producing area, and that all Delta State schools, from primary to university level, will be tuition-free.<\/p>\n

He lamented the present situation of public schools in the state.which he described as very pathetic.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will revamp our school system. Having done that, I won\u2019t allow our government officials children to go to school abroad. We will develop our hospitals to the extent that nobody will fly abroad for medical treatment outside this state,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

Gbagi also said that on June 1, 2023, he would pay every Delta youth N30,000 monthly. Promising to computerize every youth in the state and have a database of all of them.<\/p>\n

In the same breath, he warned the youths not to \u201clet anybody deceive you with their vain promises. Gbagi has the solution to the challenges in Delta state.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also promsied to treat everyone equally.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I take over and I do what they have done, God will disgrace me. This election is not about me, Kenneth Gbagi. It is about the welfare of the people of Delta state. We must rescue Delta state and make it the envy of others.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
