Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)<\/a> during the recently concluded February 25th Presidential and National Assembly polls are women, while 408 are men.<\/p>\nThere are 98 Senate seats and 325 House of Representatives seats among the elected legislators. Seven parties won seats in the Senate, while eight won seats in the House of Representatives.<\/p>\n
Despite the fact that INEC had declared winners for 423 legislative seats, the electoral body announced that supplementary elections would be held in 46 other constituencies.<\/p>\n
Women were elected to two seats in the red chamber and thirteen seats in the green chamber.<\/p>\n
Breakdown Of Political Party\u2019s Representation<\/strong><\/p>\nWITHIN NIGERIA\u00a0understands that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)\u00a0has the highest representation in the 10th National Assembly, with 57 Senate seats.<\/p>\n
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won 29 seats in the election.<\/p>\n
Other parties are represented as follows: LP, 6; SDP, 2; NNPP, 2; YPP, 1; and APGA, 1. According to the electoral chair, the APC has 162 seats in the lower chamber, the PDP has 102, the LP has 34, the NNPP has 18, the APGA has four, the ADC has two, the SDP has two, and the YPP has one.<\/p>\n
Female Senator-Elect<\/strong><\/p>\nOn the Peoples Democratic Party platform, Ipalibo Banigo, the deputy governor of Rivers State, was elected as the representative for Rivers West Senatorial District (PDP).<\/p>\n
Kingibe Ireti is the second female senator elected from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on the Labour Party platform. She is the wife of Baba Gana Kingibe, a former federation government secretary (SGF).<\/p>\n
