\u201cThe diplomats and other nationals acknowledged the quality of human resources in Nigeria\u2019s Foreign Affairs ministry\u201d.<\/p>\n
Onyeama further urged the retirees that their training in the diplomatic service should position them to serve even in elective positions.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think that the training that you got in diplomatic service should equip you to serve in a lot of elective positions as governors, senators, representatives.<\/p>\n
\u201cI would like to congratulate you all. I know how challenging it has been for me for six years.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think every one of you deserves an award for going through 30 years of service.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a ministry that called upon all your qualities; perseverance, intellect, and physical strength, travelling from country to country for years.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is quite a challenge, and you deserve the real appreciation of the people of this country because, in the diplomatic sphere, Nigeria is still highly regarded,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Onyeama said that despite the onerous challenges, the ministry was still delivering real dividends at the international level.<\/p>\n
He added that this feat was achieved through the hard work of personnel who work in the ministry over the years.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo, those of us that we are celebrating tonight, you deserve our commendation and gratitude as Nigerians,\u201d Onyeama said.<\/p>\n
In his remarks, the Director Overseeing the Office of the Permanent Secretary (DOOPS) also commended the retirees for their dedication, hard work, perseverance, and selflessness.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou have all played your role by giving the best of your service to our dear motherland, Nigeria.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe know that you are the heroes, not only on paper but not seen because you have all been working behind the scene.<\/p>\n
\u201dYou are the leading implementations of all government policies.<\/p>\n
\u201cNo doubt, the nation has been better with the services you have provided. It is for these reasons and more that you deserve to be honoured,\u201d Olise said.<\/p>\n
Also, a Retired Director, Amb. Faruk Danjuma, in his vote of thanks, appreciated the Minister and the Ministry for honouring them.<\/p>\n
