The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi, has spoken on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, flagrant disregard for court orders regarding the presidential election. <\/p>\n

Recall that INEC has failed to grant Labour Party permission to inspect the sensitive materials used in the conduct of the February 25, 2023, presidential and National Assembly elections.<\/p>\n

Obi<\/a> has now revealed the party and Obidients\u2019 next line of action if the situation persists. <\/p>\n

Obi bemoaned INEC\u2019s alleged refusal to heed the Supreme Court order to allow the party to inspect the materials used in the election.<\/p>\n

INEC declared Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu winner of the election, saying that the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate polled a total of 8,794,726 to defeat his closest rivals and candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi of the LP who scored 6,984, 520 and 6,101,533 respectively.<\/p>\n

However, Obi has gone to court to challenge the outcome and the result announced by the electoral umpire.<\/p>\n

Obi, who appeared on Arise TV on Monday, said INEC must obey court orders and allow the LP to inspect the materials.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe court granted the ruling, but INEC is not obeying. For me, we\u2019ll do whatever is necessary within the law. Whatever we\u2019re going to do will be in the interest of the country. Let them give us access.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey have declared somebody as the winner, and we must get access to the process. We\u2019ll protest at the INEC office, and we\u2019ll also go back to the court because we have a situation where we cannot even mention,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
