{"id":255247,"date":"2023-03-14T04:48:40","date_gmt":"2023-03-14T03:48:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=255247"},"modified":"2023-03-14T04:48:40","modified_gmt":"2023-03-14T03:48:40","slug":"lagos-man-remanded-in-prison-for-attempting-to-kill-father-over-money","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/03\/14\/lagos-man-remanded-in-prison-for-attempting-to-kill-father-over-money\/","title":{"rendered":"Lagos: Man remanded in prison for attempting to kill father over money"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>36-year-old man, Innocent Osanebi, has been remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre for allegedly threatening to use a knife to kill his father, Francis Isekwene, in the Ojodu Berger area of Lagos State.<\/p>\n<p>The magistrate, Mrs L.A Owolabi gave the order after the defendant who is facing a charge bordering on causing a breach of peace preferred against him by the police was arraigned on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The police Inspector, Mary Adiguje, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 1, 2023, adding that Innocent, while allegedly acting under the influence of a hard drug suspected to be Indian hemp, in an attempt to extort money from his father, used a knife to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/10\/15\/man-hacks-32-year-old-son-to-death-for-threatening-to-kill-him-in-enugu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">threaten to kill him<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>According to the prosecutor, the offence committed is punishable under Section 56 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. The charge read, \u201cThat you, Innocent Osanebi, on March 1, 2023, around 10.30 am at No. 31 Bakare Street, Ojodu Berger, Lagos, in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did threaten with violence with a knife to kill one Francis Isekwene of No.31 Bakare Street, Ojodu Berger and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 56 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Owolabi did not take the plea of the defendant.<\/p>\n<p>The case was adjourned till April 4, 2023, for mention.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>36-year-old man, Innocent Osanebi, has been remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre for allegedly threatening to use a knife to kill his father, Francis Isekwene, in the Ojodu Berger area of Lagos State.
