A 27-year-old woman, Anihle Sikade and her Nigerian boyfriend, Promise Uchechukwu, 29, have been arrested with drugs by members of the East London Tactical Response Team (TRT) in Eastern Cape, South Africa.<\/p>\n

The provincial spokesperson for the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks), Captain Yolisa Mgolodela, in a statement on Wednesday, March 22, said Uchechukwu, and Sikade, were arrested on Saturday, March 18.<\/p>\n

Mgolodela said after the TRT\u2019s R75 000 drug bust, the investigation was taken over by the East London based So\u00aduth African Narcotics Enforcement \u200b Bure\u00adau (SANEB) of the Serious Organised Crime Investigation team of the Hawks<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cIt is alleged that on March 18, mem\u00adbers attached to TRT discovered a large quantity of drugs, ammunition, and fi\u00adrearm while searching a house in the Cuba ad\u00administrative area in Butterworth. They arrested one suspect.”<\/p>\n

“On the same day, they received further information that the drug dealer<\/a> from East London who supplied the suspects with drugs was on his way to Butterworth for another delivery<\/p>\n

\u201cThe members had a de\u00adscription of the veh\u00adicle which is normal\u00adly used to deliver the drugs and kept ob\u00adservation on the N2 near Komga when they noticed the suspici\u00adous vehicle,\u201d<\/p>\n

She said the vehicle was stopped and searched.<\/p>\n

Upon searching the vehicle, five packets of tik were found hidden under the passenger seat.<\/p>\n

Mgolodela added that, \u201cThe driver and his girlfriend were arrested for dealing in drugs. Five 100g packets of tik to the street value of R75\u200b 000 and a Ford Ecosport worth R80 000 were seized during the arrest.\u201d<\/p>\n

The couple appeared in the Komga Magistrate\u2019s Court on Monday, March 20.<\/p>\n

Their case was postponed until March 28 for a bail application.<\/p>\n
