{"id":257460,"date":"2023-03-23T12:55:40","date_gmt":"2023-03-23T11:55:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=257460"},"modified":"2023-03-23T12:55:40","modified_gmt":"2023-03-23T11:55:40","slug":"lagos-man-sentenced-to-life-imprisonment-for-raping-colleagues-9-year-old-daughter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/03\/23\/lagos-man-sentenced-to-life-imprisonment-for-raping-colleagues-9-year-old-daughter\/","title":{"rendered":"Lagos: Man sentenced to life imprisonment for raping colleague&#8217;s 9-year-old daughter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 51-year-old utility officer, Ubregbo Parmer, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for defiling his female colleague\u2019s 9-year-old daughter.<\/p>\n<p>Ubregbo convict committed the offence on December 10, 2019, inside his office in Magodo, Lagos.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Abiola Soladoye of the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court on Thursday, held that the prosecution had sufficiently proven the charge of defilement against the convict.<\/p>\n<p>Soladoye said, &#8220;The evidence of the respective prosecution witnesses established the ingredients of the offence against the defendant, who was properly identified by the survivor.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The survivor gave vivid and gory account of her ordeal in the hands of the defendant.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The judge added that, \u201cI hereby find him guilty as charged of the one-count charge of defilement, and he is hereby sentenced to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/02\/17\/ondo-man-sentenced-to-life-imprisonment-for-defiling-wifes-niece\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">life imprisonment<\/a>. Parents should be alive to their responsibilities,\u201d stated the judge.<\/p>\n<p>The state counsel, Olufunke Adegoke, presented two witnesses and two exhibits during the trial, while the defendant testified as the sole witness in the case.<\/p>\n<p>Adegoke submitted that the survivor\u2019s mother brought her daughter to the office and left her to attend to other things when the convict quickly removed her pant and had sexual intercourse with her.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A 51-year-old utility officer, Ubregbo Parmer, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for defiling his female colleague\u2019s 9-year-old daughter.
