Femi Fani-Kayode, chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has implored the United Kingdom (UK) to recall Ben Llewellyn-Jones, the country\u2019s deputy high commissioner to Nigeria, for \u201cattempting” to meddle into Nigeria’s politics. <\/p>\n
In a tweet on his Twitter page on Tuesday, Fani-Kayode questioned the UK envoy\u2019s competence and capacity as a diplomat, adding that \u201cwe deserve far better\u201d.<\/p>\n
On Sunday, Llewellyn-Jones had called out the APC chieftain\u2019s for making several comments in reference to the opposition, which often contained words and phrases deemed derogatory, divisive, and inciting.<\/p>\n
The deputy high commissioner noted that 10 people had been added to the growing watchlist of the UK visa ban.<\/p>\n
On the same day, Fani-Kayode had reacted to the envoy\u2019s remarks by saying he would not be intimidated by a \u201cveiled threat of a visa ban\u201d.<\/p>\n
The former minister added that he would not take lessons on \u201cwhat to say or how to speak\u201d from the UK envoy.<\/p>\n
In a new reactions, Fani-Kayode accused Llewellyn-Jones of \u201cinterfering in our internal affairs\u201d, adding that he still awaits the UK envoy\u2019s \u201cevidence of my so-called \u2018hate speech\u2019 against the Igbo from him\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cI call on the British Govt. to recall Benedict Llewellyn-Jones, the Dep. British High Commissioner, from our country for interfering in our internal affairs and attempting to involve himself in our politics,\u201d the tweet reads.<\/p>\n
\u201cSomeone, please tell him that there is absolutely nothing wrong with being an ethnic nationalist and seeking to preserve your identity, land, culture, values, and ways as a people whilst at the same time opening your doors to others from your nation and welcoming them with open arms.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is a great difference between peaceful co-existence based on love and mutual respect for your fellow compatriots and a total and complete capitulation and rejection of who we are and where we are coming from as a people.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe espouse the former and reject the latter.<\/p>\n
