The Benue State government has announced plans for the construction of a new Civil Aviation Airport in Makurdi, the state capital.<\/p>\n

The State Commissioner of Information, Tourism and Culture, Mike Inalegwu, made the disclosure at the Government House in Makurdi while briefing journalists at the end of the State Executive Council meeting.<\/p>\n

Inalegwu disclosed that 12 states in the country including Benue secured licences from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authorities NCAA<\/a>) for the construction of civil aviation airports in their respective states.<\/p>\n

He said that the foundation laying ceremony for the airport has been scheduled for next week at Kura village, along Naka road, about 12 kilometers away from Makurdi metropolis.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe site for this airport is going to be at Kura, along Naka road, about 12 kilometers from Makurdi town because of the proximity to the Industrial layout.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe next administration can equally continue with the project but the good news is that this administration pressed for the approval of this airport and we got it,\u201d Inalegwu said.<\/p>\n

Similarly, the commissioner disclosed that the state government had also sealed approval from the NCAA to allow Air Peace to commence commercial flights from the Makurdi Airport (military airport) to other parts of the country.<\/p>\n

Inalegwu said the flights from the Makurdi Airport were billed to commence operations on the 17th April 17, 2023, at 8am from Makurdi.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
