{"id":259445,"date":"2023-04-01T04:43:08","date_gmt":"2023-04-01T03:43:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=259445"},"modified":"2023-04-01T04:43:08","modified_gmt":"2023-04-01T03:43:08","slug":"prison-official-remanded-over-job-racketeering","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/04\/01\/prison-official-remanded-over-job-racketeering\/","title":{"rendered":"Prison official remanded over job racketeering"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A superintendent with the Nigeria Correctional Service, Lafia, Nasarawa State, Eyimoga Moses, has been remanded over job racketeering.<\/p>\n<p>Moses was arraigned by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, before Justice Abdul Dogo of the Federal High Court, Makurdi, Benue State, on one count of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/02\/15\/fake-nigerian-lawyer-arrested-in-south-africa-for-corruption\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">corruption<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>He was alleged to have collected N800,000 from a couple for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/04\/01\/nigeria-immigration-probes-personnel-accused-of-employment-racketeering\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">two vacant slots<\/a> at the Federal University, Lafia, Nasarawa State.<\/p>\n<p>Counsel for the anti-graft agency, Bako Alonge, said the offence was contrary to Section 1(1) of Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences Act 2006.<\/p>\n<p>The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.<\/p>\n<p>The spokesperson for the ICPC, Mrs Azuka Ogugua, in a statement on Friday, said the defendant was admitted to bail and ordered to be remanded until he met the bail conditions.<\/p>\n<p>The case was adjourned till June 20, 2023, for trial.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A superintendent with the Nigeria Correctional Service, Lafia, Nasarawa State, Eyimoga Moses, has been remanded over job racketeering.
