{"id":259522,"date":"2023-04-01T13:24:17","date_gmt":"2023-04-01T12:24:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=259522"},"modified":"2023-04-01T13:24:17","modified_gmt":"2023-04-01T12:24:17","slug":"rivers-three-lawyers-arrested-while-filing-apcs-tribunal-petitions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/04\/01\/rivers-three-lawyers-arrested-while-filing-apcs-tribunal-petitions\/","title":{"rendered":"Rivers: Three lawyers arrested while filing APC\u2019s tribunal petitions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Three lawyers have been arrested by the police while reportedly filing tribunal processes for the All Progressives Congress APC in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.<\/p>\n<p>It was gathered the lawyers were preparing petitions for the APC in Rivers State to officially file a legal proceeding against the conduct and results of the just concluded governorship election in the state.<\/p>\n<p>According to Vanguard, three lawyers from the Tuduru Ede\u2019s Chamber, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, were lodged in a hotel where they were working before police stormed them and picked them up last night.<\/p>\n<p>The Principal of the three <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/03\/11\/peter-obis-lawyers-reveal-next-step-amid-inec-chairman-refusal-to-allow-inspection-of-election-materials\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lawyers<\/a>, Tuduru Ede, SAN, who confirmed the development said the act was carried out by the police, adding that his colleagues were picked and taken to Ogbunabali Police State without reason.<\/p>\n<p>Ede stated that the act was perpetrated in connivance with the Peoples Democratic Party and the state government to frustrate the APC\u2019s move to the tribunal.<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201cThree lawyers filing the process for the APC in Rivers State were arrested last night while they were preparing the papers by the Nigeria Police in collaboration with the PDP.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe arrest is to prevent the APC from filing their process to court.
