{"id":261080,"date":"2023-04-08T07:50:29","date_gmt":"2023-04-08T06:50:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=261080"},"modified":"2023-04-08T07:50:29","modified_gmt":"2023-04-08T06:50:29","slug":"tinubu-keyamo-slams-chimamanda-over-letter-to-us-president-biden","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/04\/08\/tinubu-keyamo-slams-chimamanda-over-letter-to-us-president-biden\/","title":{"rendered":"Tinubu: Keyamo slams Chimamanda over letter to US president, Biden"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Festus Keyamo, a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has condemned Chimamanda Adichie&#8217;s letter to US President Joe Biden regarding Bola Tinubu&#8217;s election.<\/p>\n<p>The APC Presidential Campaign Council spokesperson denied her claim that the February 25 presidential election was rigged.<\/p>\n<p>Adichie told Biden on Thursday that the election was marred by irregularities, accusing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of turning a blind eye.<\/p>\n<p>The novelist told Biden that congratulating Tinubu, who was \u201chastily\u201d named president-elect, taints America&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/04\/08\/easter-present-nigeria-to-god-peter-obi-sends-message-to-christians\/\">commitment to democratic processes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement on Friday, Keyamo said the memo \u201creflects a pathetic colonial mentality\u201d, mocking long epistles by \u201cbitter sore losers posing as concerned citizens\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister of State, Labour and Employment noted that presidents make decisions and take actions based on reports from official as well as diplomatic sources.<\/p>\n<p>Keyamo said it was befuddling that someone celebrated for using a God-given talent to promote African values, degraded that same ethos by penning a \u201cpetty letter\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>He claimed that urging a foreign power to withhold a \u201cmere congratulatory message to a president-elect\u201d is of no effect as it does not validate Nigeria\u2019s democratic identity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt reflects a pathetic colonial mentality.
