{"id":261127,"date":"2023-04-08T16:39:57","date_gmt":"2023-04-08T15:39:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=261127"},"modified":"2023-04-08T16:39:57","modified_gmt":"2023-04-08T15:39:57","slug":"osun-court-stops-pdp-congresses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/04\/08\/osun-court-stops-pdp-congresses\/","title":{"rendered":"Osun: Court stops PDP congresses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has been prohibited from moving further with the organization of its proposed congresses while a substantive lawsuit is being decided before an Osun State High Court in Osogbo.<\/p>\n<p>Segun Ojo and other PDP members had on Thursday requested an order of interlocutory injunction prohibiting the party, and their agents, servants, privies, or any other person or persons acting through them, from conducting congresses into the 118 uncontested wards in the state. Sunday Vanguard was able to obtain this order on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>They also asked the court to issue an order prohibiting the party from holding congresses to elect representatives to all local government districts and states, which have already been scheduled to begin on March 27, 2023.<\/p>\n<p>They also sought the order of the court to restrain the party from conducting congresses to fill all local government areas and states which have already been fixed to commence on March 27, 2023, and April 17, 2023, pending the determination of an originating summon before the court.<\/p>\n<p>The court, presided over by Justice Ayo Oyebiyi, also restrained PDP, its agents, servants and its agents from going ahead with the conduct of the proposed congresses in the state till the determination of the substantive suit.<\/p>\n<p>Consequently, Justice Oyebiyi restrained the party and its agents from conducting any congress as planned until the determination of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/04\/07\/kwara-assembly-confirms-justice-kamaldeen-as-substantive-grand-khadi\/\">substantive suit<\/a> slated for Monday, 17th April 2023<\/p>\n<p>After the submission of the Counsel to the plaintiffs, Barrister Kehinde Adesiyan, who argued that he was denied access to obtain the party nomination form to contest for the office of Legal Adviser, the court ordered as follows: \u201c17\/4\/2023 for the hearing of the Motion on Notice.
