Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag believes Marcus Rashford’s injury, suffered during Saturday’s 2-0 win over Everton, does not bode well for the striker.<\/p>\n

Rashford<\/a> was forced off the pitch in the 80th minute with what appeared to be a groin injury. After being replaced by Wout Weghorst, he limped straight to the tunnel.<\/p>\n

When United scored their second goal with 19 minutes remaining, Ten Hag admitted he had the option of taking Rashford off, but he chose not to do so because he wanted to give his leading scorer time on the pitch alongside the returning Anthony Martial.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, the decision appears to have backfired, as his leading scorer may be out for a few games after suffering an injury 10 minutes before the game’s end.<\/p>\n

On how severe the injury is, Ten Hag said;<\/strong><\/p>\n

We have to wait. He doesn\u2019t look well.<\/em><\/p>\n

This was avoidable. All science and research tell you players need a certain time to recover.<\/em><\/p>\n

It is also part of the schedule that we are now finding ourselves in this situation and now we can only pray he is not dropping off.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

On why he didn\u2019t substitute Rashford earlier in the game, the Dutchman said;<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t think any manager at this stage of the season will rotate so much.<\/em><\/p>\n

I had the consideration [to take him off] but at that moment, with Anthony Martial just coming back, you want to bring them back into routines and togetherness.<\/em><\/p>\n

When they are together we have two goalscorers who can finish games, which is what we need in the final stage of the season to be successful.<\/em><\/p>\n

Also, there was no indication. If there was an indication I would have taken him off.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
