Renowned award winning writer, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, has revealed why she threw her weight behind the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, in the just concluded election. <\/p>\n

Speaking during a chat on Arise News on Monday, Chimamanda<\/a> said her support for Peter Obi was rooted in his capacity to deliver like he did when he was governor of Anambra state. <\/p>\n

She stated that her support for Obi had nothing to do with the fact that they are from the same ethnic group and that those who are making it about tribe are only accusing her of what they are doing. <\/p>\n

She posited that her support for the actualisation of Obi\u2019s presidency is because his record of performance, especially his love for education.<\/p>\n

She added that those who wanted people to believe that her support for Obi was because of he’s Igbo are mere trying to sidestep the issue she raised in her letter to president Joe Biden of the United States. <\/p>\n

she said: \u201ctribesman is such an outdated and strange expression, which I think also says something about whoever is using it. I think that that kind of accusation is a practice of what psychologists call projecting. So you\u2019re doing something but then you accuse someone else of doing it, even though they\u2019re not,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo this idea of sort of ethnicity is just really again, I think it\u2019s a way of deflecting, let\u2019s focus on what really matters,\u201d she said<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
