Kano State<\/a> governor-elect Abba Yusuf has exposed plot by the State government to use public funds to finance the April 15 supplementary elections in Kano.<\/p>\n

To this end, He has issued a public advisory warning the government officials involved in the scheme to think twice and return the money handed to them for the aforementioned purpose to the state treasury. <\/p>\n

In a statement issued on Friday in Kano by the chief press secretary to the governor-elect, Sanusi Dawakin-Tofa, Yusuf said N181 million has been earmarked for the supplementary poll. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe are in possession of credible information that the Kano state government has directed the release of N61 million to Doguwa, over N60 million to Nasarawa, and over N60 million to Wudil local government areas for the supplementary elections,\u201d said the statement. \u201cWhile other local government councils are also listed to receive hundreds of millions of naira to fund the elections.\u201d<\/p>\n

The statement added that the money was released solely for sponsoring political thugs to unleash violence on innocent citizens and residents during the supplementary elections in the state.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe wish to again caution all the local government chairmen and their management staff to, as a matter of responsibility, distance themselves and ensure that all public funds already released are not used for such purposes and returned to the appropriate coffers,\u201d the statement stressed.<\/p>\n

While commending the Good Samaritan who came forward \u201cto confide in us some evil plans to be visited on the good people of Kano state ahead of the April 15 supplementary elections,\u201d the statement warned it would take appropriate action against anybody undermining the state\u2019s resources. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
