The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, has presented N84.5 million cheques to 34 dependents of policemen who died in active service in Zamfara.<\/p>\n

NAN reports Baba was on Thursday represented at the ceremony by the acting Commissioner of Police, Ali Dabigi.<\/p>\n

The IGP<\/a> said the fund provided by the Police Family Welfare Insurance Scheme would provide succour for families of the deceased.<\/p>\n

Baba said the insurance scheme has been assisting families of officers and men of the Force, especially those who died in active service.<\/p>\n

The Police chief commiserated with the relations and advised the beneficiaries to ensure judicious use of the money.<\/p>\n

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Hajia Fatima Muhammad described the gesture as a welcome development.<\/p>\n
