{"id":262569,"date":"2023-04-15T04:16:02","date_gmt":"2023-04-15T03:16:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=262569"},"modified":"2023-04-15T04:16:02","modified_gmt":"2023-04-15T03:16:02","slug":"ogun-woman-breaks-ibadan-electric-officials-leg-over-bill","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/04\/15\/ogun-woman-breaks-ibadan-electric-officials-leg-over-bill\/","title":{"rendered":"Ogun: Woman breaks Ibadan Electric official\u2019s leg over bill"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 34-year-old woman, Nosimot Alalade, has been arraigned before an Abeokuta Chief Magistrates\u2019 Court in Isabo for allegedly breaking the leg of an official of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company, IBEDC.<\/p>\n<p>The defendant, who resides at 5, Amadiya Street, in the Olomore area of Abeokuta, Ogun State, faces three counts of assault, conduct likely to cause breach of public peace, and acting in a manner to endanger the life of the complainant.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecutor, Inspector Olaide Rawlings, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on April 12 around 1 pm.<\/p>\n<p>Rawlings said the defendant assaulted the official, Silas Olaleye, by pushing him from a ladder while performing his law duty, which caused him permanent injury on his right leg.<\/p>\n<p>She said the complainant and his team were assigned to the area for routine check of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/04\/14\/osun-couple-attack-policemen-ibedc-workers-with-dog\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IBEDC<\/a> bill and meters when the incident happened.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecutor further stated that when the complainant and his team got to the defendant\u2019s house, they asked for her bill and she could not produce it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the process, the complainant was instructed by his team leader to disconnect the defendant\u2019s power from the pole.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen the complainant climbed the pole to disconnect the cable that carried light to the defendant\u2019s house, she (defendant), out of anger, pushed the ladder which the complainant was mounting,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Rawlings said the IBEDC official fell from the ladder and sustained an open injury on his right leg.<\/p>\n<p>According to her, the offences contravene Sections 338, 343, 355 and 249 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun State, 2006.<\/p>\n<p>The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.<\/p>\n<p>The Magistrate, Mrs M.O.
